SPE Paper

We were delighted to be at the SPE conference in Oman in May where our MD Grant Wallace presented our paper "Transforming Leadership & Culture by Integrating Human Factors & Learning from Normal Work" which was one of four papers accepted from 1,000 who applied for this category of HSE & Welfare, Leadership & Culture.

This paper demonstrates that a true learning culture is not created through policies, slogans or training alone. It is created through intentional system design that enables people to observe normal work, discuss it openly and continuously improve.

The novelty of this work lies in the:

•  Deliberate integration of Human Factors and Learning from Normal Work into a single operational model.
•  Use of extensive video capture to make normal work visible at scale.
•  Development of a coaching and mentoring culture that enabled learning to be led by the workforce itself.

The approach provides a scalable and transferable model for organisations seeking to strengthen human controls, improve performance and move from reactive to proactive learning in complex well construction and well intervention environments.
