Salos Sunesis worked closely with our team to assist us in delivering a significant increase in our drilling performance. Using their performance tools and techniques they were able to transform the mind-set of the teams, which energized them to learn and then perform well beyond all our expectations. Their performance improvement roadmap resulted in a 300%+ improvement in performance. In simple terms Salos Sunesis left us with a legacy of people who perform better."
Due to the demanding nature and challenges thrown at you during HPHT operations, it is imperative that the rig and crew are best-placed to deal with the unexpected and deal with it correctly and not make things worse. The onshore HPHT training is an important element, but where we have seen huge value being added is at the well site during initial audits and verification work of equipment, then hands-on training with the crews using the actual systems on the rig. This when coupled with an offshore expert to coach and mentor real-time during unplanned events makes for a very robust way of working. The key to success here is the competence and coaching ability of the HPHT trainer/coach to engage with the whole team and not just the supervisors and onshore experts. SSL brings that to any project."
I wanted to take this opportunity to thank Salos Sunesis for your support, help and guidance through the planning and execution of the Viola HPHT well. The training onshore and coaching offshore provided by your organisation was extremely effective. All of this training came good when we actually had to strip in the hole some 10,000 ft. Thank you for your support and I look forward to using your services for HPHT wells in the future."
Obviously we were very pleased with your performance on the HPHT well, Selkirk, particularly during the training and execution phase when things took a turn for the worse due to the influx during TD logging. It was good to have SSL as part of the team and we appreciate very much SSL’s contribution to successfully drilling the HPHT well and in regaining well control after the influx had occurred with stripping required. Thanks for your assistance and dedication to delivering a successful end result."
SSL provided excellent service, ensuring that our HPHT procedures were based upon industry best practice and built upon previous experience. The training plan developed for the project covering, onshore, offshore and the JOM document, ensured that all team members received the training they required and this could be verified by the coaches remaining on the rig during the operation. The approach taken on Selkirk to HPHT training and JOM implementation is considered best practice within our organisation.”
SSL drilled the team on our Kessog HPHT well until a HPHT team was moulded into shape prior to entering the HPHT phase. SSL were the glue that held this team together. SSL also co-ordinated the onshore training through a one-day HPHT course specialising on the theory and practices of HPHT well control. Kessog was a very difficult well to drill (BP farm out) and it was drilled safely, on time and on budget, which is no mean feat for an HPHT well these days – SSL had a significant part to play in this success.”
What we do
Lead OP Excellence
A world-class operational performance improvement method developed by SSL.
SSL project coaching is real time on the job method of enhancing personnel development and understanding. Coaches who are mentors use their skill set to promote job ownership and decision making increasing job awareness, appreciation and efficiency. Personnel find the method easy - they can approach the coaches and use their experience and knowledge as a warehouse of information and they are also a good sounding board.
Training & Accelerating Competency
The SSL approach is all about taking conventional methods of training and developing people while applying a support medium, where those being developed can see exactly how the training and developments affect their day-to-day operations and are linked to step change performance improvement. SSL is about making operational performance coaching fit where the existing Operational training and development leaves gaps.

Maintaining sustained business success: SSL commission study into sustainability in $50 dollar/barrel world.
Salos Sunesis have recently engaged with Aberdeen Business School to conduct a study into sustaining operational high performance and business success in a $50 dollar/barrel world. Salos Sunesis MD, Ty Crandall, commented “This study is extremely important for us, as it relates entirely to our company mission and how we move forward as an industry, perhaps even indefinitely, in a low oil price environment”. The study will be led by an MBA Oil and Gas student from Aberdeen Business School. Findings from the consultancy report will be shared fourth quarter 2015 with industry by Salos Sunesis to provoke a deeper industry discussion into sustainability in a $50 dollar/barrel world.
